Both my mother and grandmother made this simple dessert often. The nutmeg adds a special touch to the custard.

Ingredients
- 1 quart milk
- 5 large eggs, slightly beaten
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 - lemon, juiced
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
How To Make old-fashioned custard

Step 1Place milk in saucepan and heat.

Step 2In a mixing bowl, mix the eggs, sugar, salt, lemon juice, vanilla, and nutmeg. Add heated milk.

Step 3Place in a casserole. Place the casserole in a baking pan filled part way with water.

Step 4Bake 35 to 40 minutes at 350 degrees,
