This is from my cookbook that came with my very first microwave, about 30 years ago. This is very easy to make and really good. It's pretty chocolaty, so add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and enjoy!.

Ingredients

1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups milk
1 - egg, well beaten
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 - squares (1-oz each) unsweetened chocolate

How To Make microwave chocolate pudding

Step 1

In large mixing bowl blend together sugar, cornstarch and salt. Gradually stir in milk, mixing well. Add chocolate squares. Microwave on HIGH 5 to 7 minutes, stirring every 3 minutes until mixture is smooth, thickened and clear.

Step 2

Stir a small amount of hot pudding quickly into egg. Return egg mixture to hot pudding, mixing well. Microwave on HIGH 1 to 3 minutes, stirring after 1 minute, until smooth and thickened.
Step 3

Add butter and vanilla. Stir until butter is melted. Pour into serving dishes.
Step 4

If you are not going to serve immediately, place plastic wrap on the top of pudding so it won't form a film.
