This recipe has been in my family for 70+ years. Originated by Becky Gillenwater and passed down to my Aunt Mary Ann.

Ingredients

  • 4 - bananas
  • 1 box vanilla wafers
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 4 cups milk
  • 3 - egg yolks
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter, room temperature

How To Make made from scratch banana pudding

  • Step 1
    In a 2 Qt sauce pan heat milk and sugar on low heat and stir until sugar is dissolved. Beat Eggs, Flour, and 1 Cup of the milk sugar mixture until smooth.
  • Step 2
    Add the eggs and flour back into the sauce pan and stir constantly and bring to a boil until thickened. Turn off heat and add Vanilla & Butter. Stir until butter is melted.
  • Step 3
    In a large bowl layer the wafers, bananas, and pudding until you are out of pudding. Can be served Warm or Cold.
