- 1 tablespoon vanilla flavoring
How To Make johanan's banana puddin
-
Step 1MIX 1 cup sugar, flour and salt in top of double boiler. Blend in 6 egg yolks and milk and add to the mixture above..At this point I add my vanilla pudding..Cook, uncovered, over boiling water 10 to 12 min. or until thickened, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla.
-
Step 2The egg whites you save from the eggs place in a cold bowl for the meringue. Once ready for this step whip the egg whites into stiff peaks add 1/2 cup of sugar,1/2 tsp of cream of tarter and 1 tbsp of vanilla flavoring.
-
Step 3A few helpful tips...I place my Nilla Wafers in the bottom of the pan and cut up 3 bananas so I will have that step finished...then I cook my vanilla pudding and set it to the side right before it gets to thick. Then I start on my meringue so that when I am ready to assemble the layers I will have the topping finished. Once the meringue is finished I pour half the pudding over the first layer and then quickly make another layer adding the final amount of pudding. Then I add the meringue and bake at 350 degrees for 15 mins.
