Ingredients

  • 12 - individual graham cracker pie shells
  • 1 can 14-oz. can coconut milk
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon coconut extract (or to taste)
  • 7/8 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • - whipped cream
  • 1/2 cup shredded coconut
  • 1 cup water

How To Make hawaiian chocolate pies

  • Step 1
    Dissolve cornstarch in water. Heat 14 ounces of coconut milk, regular milk, sugar, extract and shredded coconut in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
  • Step 2
    Gradually add cornstarch mixture to the pan, stirring with a whisk until thickened. Remove from heat and cool.
  • Step 3
    Melt chocolate in a double boiler or in a microwave. Pour half of the coconut filling into a bowl. Add the melted chocolate to the pan with the remaining filling. Let the filling cool before assembling the layered pie.
  • Step 4
    Evenly portion the chocolate coconut filling in the bottom of each of the 12 pie shells for the bottom layer. Spoon the coconut filling on top of the chocolate layer.
  • Step 5
    Garnish each pie with whipped cream. Chill before serving. Allow to come to room temp (if desired) before serving.
