1/3 c
yellow cornmeal
1/3 c
cold water
4 c
whole milk
1/2 tsp
salt
1/2 tsp
cinnamon
1/2 tsp
ginger
1/2 c
molasses

Step-by-Step

  • 1In a small bowl, combine cornmeal and water.
    In a large saucepan, scald the milk and add cornmeal mixture, stirring to prevent lumps. Cook over low heat for 20 minutes or until thickened. Add salt, spices, and molasses.
  • 2Pour the mixture into a greased 1-1/2 quart casserole dish. Bake in a preheated 325-degree oven for two hours and 10 minutes.
  • 3Serve while still warm with heavy cream, vanilla ice cream, or a hard sauce.
