This is a great dessert treat for cold winter days.

Ingredients

  • 16 slices day old, firm textered white bread
  • 2 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 package mixed dried fruits or mix of dried apricots, cranberries & raisins
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • 1 medium apple, cored, peeled and chopped into pieces
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 - egg slightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves (optional)

How To Make english bread pudding

  • Step 1
    Tear bread into 1" pieces. Place in a well greased crock pot or baking dish. Pour milk over the bread and let soak for 30 mins.
  • Step 2
    Stir in dried fruits, nuts and apple pieces.
  • Step 3
    Combine melted butter, brown sugar, egg and spices in a small bowl. Pour over the bread & fruit mixture. Stir to blend.
  • Step 4
    Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours in the crock pot or 300 degrees for 2-3 hours. Just watch and check periodically.
