  • 2 pounds french bread loaf or homestyle white bread, cubed
  • 4 cups milk
  • 2 cups half and half
  • 3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar, divided
  • 6 eggs, beaten
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup dried tart cherries
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

How To Make cherry pecan bread pudding

  • Step 1
Spread bread cubes on a baking sheet; let dry overnight. In a saucepan over low heat, combine milk, half and half, and 7 tablespoons sugar. Heat to 120F on a candy thermometer; remove from heat. In a large bowl, combine eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, and remaining sugar; blend with a whisk. Stir in cherries and pecans. Slowly whisk half of milk mixture into egg mixture; add remaining milk mixture. Stir in bread cubes; toss to mix and let stand for 5 minutes.
  • Step 2
Mix in melted butter; transfer mixture to a lightly greased 13x10 baking pan. Bake at 350F for 35 minutes, or until center is firm. Serve warm.
