I found this recipe in a 1940 cookbook that belonged to my mother. It sounded so strange that I had to try it for myself. Much to my surprise it works, plus it is very tasty.

How to Make Caramel Pudding


  1. cover unopened can of sweetened condensed milk with water. Heat to boiling. Boil 3 hours. Chill. Remove pudding from can. Slice. Serve with chopped nuts, dates, oranges or bananas. Garnish with wiped cream. 6 servings.
