Ingredients
- 3 - eggs
- 1.25 cups sugar
- 1.5 teaspoons nutmeg
- 1.5 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 2.25 cups milk
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 5 cups french bread, stale, cubed
- 1 - apple, chopped
- 2 - eggs
- 2 cups confectioners' sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup bourbon whiskey
How To Make bread pudding with bourbon sauce

Step 1With an electric mixer, beat eggs until frothy (about 3 minutes).

Step 2Add sugar, nutmeg, vanilla and cinnamon, and beat until well blended.

Step 3In a saucepan, heat the butter and milk until the butter melts (but do not allow it to boil).

Step 4In a large bowl, mix together raisins, pecans and bread cubes.

Step 5Combine the milk and egg mixtures, pour this over the bread and allow it to soak for 45 minutes.

Step 6Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Step 7Lightly grease individual ramekins or a large loaf pan.

Step 8Add the apple to the bread pudding, and spoon mixture into the baking container.

Step 9Place in oven and immediately reduce heat to 300 and bake for 40 minutes.

Step 10Increase heat to 425 and bake for another 15 minutes until nicely browned.

Step 11To make bourbon sauce, combine 2 eggs and icing sugar.

Step 12Melt butter in a double broiler, whisk in egg mixture and cook, stirring constantly, until sugar has melted and sauce has thickened slightly.

Step 13Allow to cool, and add bourbon.

Step 14Serve over bread pudding.
