I found this recipe along time ago and never had it come out bad. It's not hard to make and that's a plus. I like to put it on vanilla ice cream when it's hot or reheat and do the same or put a little milk on it.

yield 6-8 Depends on your serrving size

Ingredients

  • 3 - eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups milk - scalded (just to a boil)
  • 5 slices buttered toast
  • - raisins (optional) depends on how much you like raisins

How To Make bread pudding

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350.
  • Step 2
Take 2 tbs. of the sugar from the 1 cup of sugar and mix with the 1/2 tsp. cinnamon and set aside.
  • Step 3
Scald the milk and let cool. ( Remember just to a boil )
  • Step 4
Make the buttered toast and cut into cubes and place in greased loaf pan.
  • Step 5
Mix the eggs, salt, sugar and vanilla and whisk together. When milk has cooled add and whisk all together.
  • Step 6
Pour milk mixture over the toast, making sure all the toast is covered. ( I take a fork and lightly press down on the toast )
  • Step 7
Sprinkle the top with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  • Step 8
I put the loaf pan in a 8 x 11 baking pan with about 1/2 in water and bake. You don't have to do this but I think it bakes better.
  • Step 9
Bake at 350 for 45 minutes to 1 hr. or until a knife comes out of the center clean.
