I got this recipe from my mother-in-law Ann. Its the best recipe for bread pudding I have ever had.

Ingredients

  • 2 - slightly beaten eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups bread cubed (5 or 6 slices)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • BUTTER SAUCE INGREDIENTS
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar or brown sugar
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How To Make bread pudding

  • Step 1
    Combine eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon and salt.
  • Step 2
    Add bread cubes as well as brown sugar and raisins.
  • Step 3
    Mix ingredients together and pour into round cake pan.
  • Step 4
    Place round cake pan into bigger more shallow pan and fill 1in deep hot water. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
  • Step 5
    BUTTER SAUCE
  • Step 6
    Melt butter in saucepan.
  • Step 7
    Combine sugar and flour and add to melted butter.
  • Step 8
    Slowly add water while stirring constantly. Until mixture is smooth.
  • Step 9
    Add vanilla and blend well. Spoon sauce over bread pudding and serve warm.
