banana pudding - from scratch
This is the way my husband's grandmother always made Banana Pudding. She was a great cook and taught me how to make this. My husband and his family can't get enough of this.

- 3 - eggs, separated
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 cups milk
- dash salt
- 6 teaspoons flour
- - bananas
- - vanilla wafers
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4-6 teaspoons sugar
- - cream of tartar - optional
How To Make banana pudding - from scratch

Step 1In a 3 1/2 quart sauce pot, mix together sugar, egg yolks, milk, flour and salt.

Step 2Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.

Step 3Remove from heat and add Vanilla Extract.

Step 4Layer bowl with Vanilla Wafers, banana slices (sliced lengthwise) and pudding. It usually makes about 3 layers.

Step 5In glass bowl, beat egg whites, 4-6 tsp sugar and Cream of Tartar until stiff peaks form.

Step 6Spread meringue on top of pudding and put in 350 degree oven until turns golden brown and silky.
