This is my exmother-in-laws recipe! She makes it to this day-everyone loves it. I have had this for at least 50 years.

Ingredients
- 6 - eggs
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups milk, scalded
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- - nutmeg, sprinkle on top
How To Make baked custard

Step 1Beat eggs slightly. Add sugar, milk, salt, and vanilla. Mix thoroughly. Pour into greased casserole dish and sprinkle nutmeg on top ~much as you like. Probably 1/2 to 1 teaspoon.

Step 2Place casserole in middle of pan leaving enough room on sides to add very hot or boiling water just halfway up on casserole dish.

Step 3When knife in center comes out only slightly coated, remove from pan and out of oven. Use appropriate pot holders. Let cool. Bake at 325 degrees F - 1 hour
