This is an all time favorite recipe. The lady I got it from made me promise I would never give it to anyone else as long as she was living. I don't know why.....I've always considered it a compliment if someone asks me for a recipe. Anyway, she passed away a couple of year's ago, so now I am free to pass it on......ENJOY!!!!!!!

  • 1-1/3 c
  • 3/4 c
  • 2
  • 1 tsp
  • 1 c
    chopped dates
  • 1/2 c
    chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 1-1/2 tsp
  • 4 medium
    apples, peeled, and thinly sliced
  • 1-1/2 c
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda

How to Make Apple-Date Nut Pudding


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Grease and flour 9 x 13 baking pan
  3. Cream sugar and shortening.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla and beat well.
  5. Sift dry ingrediants together three times.
  6. Add alternately with apples, dates, and nuts to sugar mixture.
  7. Press into prepared pan.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes, or till tests done when a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  9. Can be served warm or cold. Can be topped with ice cream or whipped topping, if desired.
