This is a WW1/depression era recipe. The pie is very good and there is about nothing to it. Just a little of this and a little of that.

Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 1 cup water
- 1 - unbaked pie shell
How To Make vinegar pie

Step 1Cream butter and sugar. Add flour, spices, salt, egg, vinegar and water. Cook in top of double boiler until thick, stirring constantly. Heat oven to 350°F. Line 8-inch pie plate with pastry. Bake crust for 3 to 4 minutes. Pour hot filling into crust, and continue baking until crust is nicely browned. Cool thoroughly and serve plain or topped with a meringue or whipped cream topping.
