unflavored gelatin
8 Tbsp
cold water
9 Tbsp
2 1/4 Tbsp
1 1/2 c
3/4 c
vanilla ice cream
1 tsp
vanilla extract
2 c
whipping cream
9 inch baked pie shell

How to Make Vanilla Bavarian Cream Pie


  • 1Soften gelatin in cold water.
  • 2Scald the milk.
  • 3In a mixing bowl, mix together sugar and cornstarch.
  • 4Add eggs and mix thoroughly.
  • 5Add milk and softened gelatin, stirring constantly.
  • 6Cook custard in double boiler over hot water until it thickens and coats spoon.
  • 7Remove from heat.
  • 8Add ice cream while custard is hot.
  • 9Cool thoroughly.
  • 10Add vanilla.
  • 11Whip the cream and fold 1 1/2 cups into cooled custard.
  • 12Pour filling into pie shell, and refrigerate until set.
  • 13Garnish with remaining whipped cream.
