A nurse I worked with many years ago gave me this recipe, I have used it often. It's very easy and makes a great summer dessart.

  • 1 c
    finely chopped pecans
  • 1
    9 oz carton frozen whipped topping thawed
  • 1
    6 3/4 oz vanilla instant pudding mix
  • 3 c
    cold milk
  • 1/2 c
    softed butter
  • 1
    8 oz pkg. cream cheese softened.
  • 1 c
  • 1
    6 3/4 oz chocolate pudding mix
  • 1
    grated chocolate candy bar (optional)

How to Make The Next Best Thing to ????


  1. make the bottom crust by mixing together flour, butter, and pecans until crumb like. press into a greased 13x9" baking pan, bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes, until lightly golden rown.
  2. take out of oven and cool completely.
  3. beat cream cheese, with sugar until smooth, fold in 1/2 of the whipped topping, then spread mixture over cooled crust.
  4. combine vanilla and chocolate pudding mixes and beat in milk until smooth and thickened. spread over cream cheese layer.
  5. spread the remaning whipped topping over the top. sprinkle with the greated chocolate candy bar cover and refrigerate over night.
