I have been trying to do homemade pizza once a week as a treat. Going out or ordering anything in is a big whoopla. Well, I actually don't even want to anymore after making this. By far, my favorite!!

prep time 1 Hr 40 Min
cook time 15 Min
method ---
yield 8 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • CRUST
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 cups bread flour
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced or grated ( about 2-3 tsp)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons dry active yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • TOPPINGS
  • 1/2 small onion diced
  • 1/4 - green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cups shredded pizza cheese
  • 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese
  • 2 slices deli-style turkey
  • 2 slices ham, smoked and deli-sliced
  • 1 slice hard salami, sliced, from deli
  • 1 cup prepared pizza sauce, or homemade sauce
  • 1/2 - roma tomato, diced in large chunks

How To Make "the junkyard" pizza (crust in bread machine)

  • Step 1
Combine water, olive oil, sugar, salt in pan of bread machine
  • Step 2
In a separate bowl add flour, then sprinkle garlic on flour and add the basil and oregano. Stir quickly to combine and add to bread machine. Lastly add yeast.
  • Step 3
Turn machine on dough cycle. Let the dough go through the cycle (mine is about 1 hr 30 min. After the machine is done and beeps, let the dough rest from 5 to 30 minutes as you prepare the toppings. (I just chop them into a dice size and place them to a bowl, hand toss them together, set aside) The longer it rests, the thicker and more tasty the crust. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 475°F. Dump the dough out onto a sprayed pan you will bake the pizza on. Add 1 cup of sauce and add your choice of pizza toppings. Bake in preheated oven until golden brown, about 12 to 15 minutes.
