  • 1 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1/4 c
    butter, room temperature
  • 1
    egg, beaten
  • 1 1/2 c
    apples, pealed and chopped
  • 1/2 c
    walnuts, chopped

  • 1/2 c
    whipping cream
  • 1/2 c
  • 1/2 c
    packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c
    granulated sugar
  • 3 Tbsp
    dark rum

How to Make The Crafty Gourmet's Apple Torte


  1. TORTE:
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter or spray 8" cake pan. Stir first four ingredients into medium bowl. Beat sugar and butter in large bowl. Add eggs and beat well. Stir in dry ingredients; add apples and nuts. Transfer to prepared pan. Bake 45 to 50 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature with or without ice cream and sauce.

    Combine first 4 ingredients in saucepan over medium heat. Stir until butter melts and sugars dissolve, increase heat and boil until slightly thickened, about 3 minutes. Mix in rum.

    Be prepared, this is a very moist recipe and will keep on your counter covered for several days.
