I make a lot of pies and have won numerous prizes, but this takes the prize in my husband's opinion! He loves, loves, loves sweet potato pie,even better than pumpkin.

  • 1-1/2 c
    mashed sweet potatoes (you can used canned)
  • 3/4 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 Tbsp
    melted butter
  • 3
    eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon (or to preference)
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1-3/4 c
    milk (does not have to be evaporated)
  • 1
    single crust pie shell, unbaked

How to Make Sweet Potato Pie


  1. Preheat oven to 350 F.
  2. Mash your sweet potatoes and set aside. In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar. Gradually add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
  3. Gradually add mashed sweet potatoes, cinnamon, vanilla and milk. Mix well making sure everything is smooth.
  4. Pour into your pie crust; bake 45-60 mins. or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  5. Remove from oven and cool.
  6. When completely cooled; garnish with whipped cream and sprinkle with chopped pecans.
