Sweet Cherrity Pie

A delicious, creamy...cherry flavored pie. I have made this pie for potlucks over the years and always got rave reviews and requests for the recipe.

Picture and recipe came of a pillsbury bake off in the early 70's..I many of these little cookbooks, all have become some of my favorites to cook from..

1 c
all purpose flour
1/2 c
finely chopped nuts
1/4 c
firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c
margarine or butter, softened


8 ounce pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/2 tsp
almond extract
1 c
powdered sugar
21 ounce can of cherry pie filling
1 c
whipping cream, whipped and sweetened*

How to Make Sweet Cherrity Pie


  • 1Heat oven to 375. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. In ungreased 13 x 9 inch pan, combine first 4 ingredients. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown; stir once while baking. Reserve 1/2 cup crumbs for top. Using spoon, firmly press remaining warm crumb mixture into ungreased 9 or 10 inch pie pan. Chill Crust.
  • 2In medium bowl, blend first 3 filling ingredients until smooth. Spread over crust. Fold fruit filling into whipped cream. Spoon over cream cheese layer. Sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture. Chill 1 to 2 hours before serving. Store in refrigerator.
  • 3*TIP...VERY IMPORTANT! Do not use frozen whipped topping, such as cool whip in this recipe.
