MY FRIEND GAVE ME THIS RECPE AND IT WAS CALLED SWEDISH APPLE PIE, I THINK IT IS MORE LIKE AN APPLE CAKE. BECAUSE THE APPLES BAKE UP INTO THE TOPPING, AND THE TOPPING BAKES DOWN INTO THE APPLES AND IT IS MORE LIKE A CAKE THAN A PIE. HOWEVER IT IS WONDERFUL. WHENEVER I TAKE IT TO A POTLUCK AT CHURCH, OR ANYPLACE I NEED TO TAKE A DISH, I GET SO MANY COMPLIMENTS ON IT, EVERYONE LOVES IT. I SUBSTITUTE SPLENDA FOR THE SUGAR AND IT WORKS JUST FINE. NOBODY CAN TELL THE DIFFERANCE.

Ingredients

  • 4-5 - granny smith apples
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2-3 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 -1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 - egg

How To Make swedish apple pie

  • Step 1
Peel, core and slice apples. You need enough apples to fill a pie pan 3/4 full. I use a deep dish pie pan.
  • Step 2
Mix the 1/4 cup of sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg together, and sprinkle on apples.
  • Step 3
Mix the 1 cup of sugar and the egg together.
  • Step 4
Mix the sugar and egg mixture, flour, amd melted butter togethe.
  • Step 5
Drop dollups of this mixture on top of apples, and spread evenly to cover all of the apples.
  • Step 6
Bake at 350 degrees for about 55 minutes or until apples are cooked and topping is golden brown.
  • Step 7
I have made this with canned peaches (BE SURE TO DRAIN ALL OF THE JUICE, I EVEN DABBED THEM WITH A PAPER TOWEL). It was very good also, Whenever I take this anywhere everyone loves it whether it is made with apples or peaches. Try it with other fruits and let me know what you like.
  • Step 8
I also double the recipe and use a 9"x13" baking dish when I take it pass. there are never any leftovers.
