strawberries and cream pie

I have made this creamy,delicious pie more times than I can remember for my family and friends. It is delicious.. The recipe came from my Taste of Home magazine.. I have made it with the chocolate layer as well as without..entirely up to the individual. This pie is often requested by my family. It would be a great dessert to serve to your Valentine too. Ingredients

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, divided
  • 3 teaspoons shortening, divided
  • 1 - graham cracker crust (10 inches) - i have made my own too
  • 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 - (8 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, halved
  • 1/2 cup seedless strawberry jam

How To Make strawberries and cream pie

  • Step 1
    In a microwave, melt 3/4 cup chocolate chips and 2 teaspoons shortening; stir until smooth. Brush over crust. Refrigerate until firm.
  • Step 2
    In a small bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar, sour cream and vanilla until smooth.
  • Step 3
    Fold in whipped topping.
  • Step 4
    Spoon into crust. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
  • Step 5
    Arrange strawberries over pie. In a microwave, heat jam until melted; brush over the top. **I used glaze on this pie
  • Step 6
    Melt remaining chocolate chips and shortening; stir until smooth. Drizzle over pie. Refrigerate until chilled.
  • Step 7
    I have never served this pie to anyone that didn't love it.. Enjoy!
