I like pies that have a little spice added. This blueberry pie is excellent and makes the whole house smell good. I like it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

  • 2
    refrigerated pie crusts or homemade (i always make my own pie crust from scratch)
  • 3-4 c
    blueberries, fresh or frozen
  • 1 Tbsp
    flour or tapioca
  • 1 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1/4 tsp
    cloves

How to Make SPICY BLUEBERRY PIE

Step-by-Step

  1. Line 9 inch pie plate with one crust.
  2. Combine brown sugar, flour and cloves. Toss in the blueberries. Add to crust. Dot with butter.
  3. Cover with top crust. Poke holes in top or cut a design to let steam out.
    NOTE: I have little pie cutters that I use. With scraps of dough I cut out little leafs or nuts to place on top of pie. Brush with milk to help it stick to crust. I brush the top of pie crust with milk and sprinkle lightly with granulated sugar.
  4. Bake pie in a preheated oven at 450 degrees for 10 minutes, then lower to 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Crust should be golden brown.
  5. Cool on a wire rack. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
