How To Make spiced deepdish apple pie
-
Step 1In large bowl, mix sugars, flour, salt and spices. Into another large bowl; peel, core and thinly slice apples. (I use my apple slicer/corer and then cut each pice in half again for thin slices). Sprinkle with lemon juice as you go to prevent browning. When all apples are sliced. Roll out pie dough, fit into deepdish pie plate. Add apples to flour/spice mixture and quickly toss to coat. Pour apple mixture into pie shell. Top apples with cut up butter. Roll out top crust and place over apples. Roll up edges and pinch to seal. Flute edges or use a fork and press. Brush top and edge with a little milk, sprinkle top with sugar. Cut slits in top crust to vent. Pop into 400 degree oven for 15 minutes, reduce heat to 350 for 35-40 minutes or til apples are tender and pie just begins to bubble. Cool on wire rack. *If apples are very juicy, sprinkle 1 Tbl. flour evenly across bottom of pie shell before filling. Will help with thickening.
