    baked 8" pie shell
  • 1/4 c
    cold water
  • 2
    egg yolks
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/4 c
    flour
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    boiling water
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1/2 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 3 or 4
    ripe bananas
  • ·
    enough lemon juice to brush bananas
  • ·
    whipped cream

How to Make So Easy Banana-Caramel Pie

Step-by-Step

  1. In saucepan, mix cold water and egg yolks. Combine sugars, flour, and salt; stir into yolk mixture. Gradually add boiling water, stirring briskly. Cook, stirring, 3 to 5 minutes til smooth and thick.
  2. Add butter and vanilla; cool 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Pour into baked pie shell. Refrigerate several hours.
  3. Serve:
    Slice bananas and brush with lemon juice. Arrange over pie filling. Spread whipped cream over all.
