A dear friend of the family gave this recipe to me many years ago. It is a wonderful alternative to pecan pie, especially during the holidays. That touch of sherry adds something special.

Ingredients

  • 1 - 10 in. pie crust shell
  • 3/4 stick butter or marg
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 3/4 cup dark corn syrup
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/3 +1/4 cup sweet sherry wine
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups broken walnuts

How To Make sherry walnut pie

  • Step 1
Melt buter, stir in flour. Add corn syrup, wine, sugar. Cook, stirring constantly until mixture boils. Beat eggs in separate bowl. Stir hot mixture gradually into the beaten eggs a small amount at a time so it will not curdle eggs until all can be added. Add nuts and pour into unbaked pie shell.
  • Step 2
Bake in preheated oven 375 degrees for 45 min or till firm. (Any extra filling may be baked in about half the time in a small custard cup.)
