Sherry Walnut Pie

A dear friend of the family gave this recipe to me many years ago. It is a wonderful alternative to pecan pie, especially during the holidays. That touch of sherry adds something special.

10 in. pie crust shell
3/4 stick
butter or marg
2 Tbsp
3/4 c
dark corn syrup
4 large
1/3 +1/4 c
sweet sherry wine
1 1/2 c
1 1/2 c
broken walnuts

How to Make Sherry Walnut Pie


  • 1Melt buter, stir in flour. Add corn syrup, wine, sugar. Cook, stirring constantly until mixture boils. Beat eggs in separate bowl. Stir hot mixture gradually into the beaten eggs a small amount at a time so it will not curdle eggs until all can be added. Add nuts and pour into unbaked pie shell.
  • 2Bake in preheated oven 375 degrees for 45 min or till firm. (Any extra filling may be baked in about half the time in a small custard cup.)
