save the pie dough scraps
Instead of throwing away your pie dough scraps or making sugar cinnamon role up cookies; use the excess dough to make a couple of mini pies of any filling that you like. It is simple, they could even be open top mini pies. Rolling out the dough a second time makes it a little bit tougher but not by much and the little bit of extra effort can be such a delicious delight!

How To Make save the pie dough scraps
-
Step 1I made a 10 inch deep dish cherry pie from my pie dough recipe. After cutting off the dough from your main pie, collect and ball the scraps, cut in half and role out the dough again for a mini pie.
-
Step 2I used a Norpro mini pie pan which measures 5 inches in outside diam. so it is probable considered a 4 inch pie pan. I placed and centered the two mini pie crusts in each of 2 pans.
-
Step 3I had already cut up a single Granny Smith apple and had mixed it with the sugars and corn starch ready for placing in the two open pie shells. Then I folded the overhanging pie dough over the apple filling and baked with the cherry pie.
-
Step 4I could have made two mini cherry pies, or a apple cranberry, or peach, or pear lavender, blue berry, pear cranberry... for the two mini pies.
