p'mud pie

For Christmas instead of the traditional Pecan Pie, I incorporated a chocolate fudge pie with it and infused this creation. If you like Pecans and You like Chocolate, You will LOVE this pie.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chocolate graham crackers
  • 1/2 cup pecans, in pieces
  • 6 tablespoons salted butter, melted
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups pecans, chopped
  • 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate, coarsely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon butter rum flavor extract
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 cup shelled pecan halves
  • - whipped cream, optional

How To Make p'mud pie

  • Step 1
    Heat oven to 350^ For the Crust: Mix crackers, pecans in food processor until crumbly. In a bowl add crumbs and butter mix well and press over bottom and up sides of 9" pie plate. bake for 10 minutes.
  • Step 2
    Filling: Heat together the milk and salt in a heavy saucepan over medium heat. stirring until bubbles start to form. add cream and chopped pecans. simmer.remove from heat and stir in chocolate until melted. Stir in Butter Rum flavor. Pour into crust. Let it cool on rack and then chill for 3 hours.
  • Step 3
    Topping: Stir oil,water,and sugar in a small saucepan, bring to boil. Add pecans, stir to coat..stir constantly for 2 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Line baking sheet with foil, pour pecans onto foil and separate using 2 forks. Let cool. Sprinkle over pie and serve with whip cream.
