pete's buttermilk pie

This is a recipe that my 39 year old son found in one of my Mom's cookbooks done by the church in Franklin. He makes it every holliday and as many times in between as we can talk him into it! My grandchildren and greatgrand children call it Uncle Pete's pie.

Ingredients

  • 3 - whole eggs
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 tablespoon flour, all purpose
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2/3 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

How To Make pete's buttermilk pie

  • Step 1
    Beat eggs and combine with buttermilk. Add other ingredients and blend well. Pour batter into unbaked 9 inch pie shelll.
  • Step 2
    Bake 10 minutes at 250 degrees and then increase oven temperature to 300 degrees and continue baking for 50 minutes more. Test for doneness with clean knife inserted into center of pie. If it comes out clean, it is done.
  • Step 3
    This is great to eat as is, even when warm or with a whipped cream topping.
