peggi's deep dish pear pie

We have a pear tree so a friend gave me her recipe & I've been making it ever since.

Ingredients

  • - partially baked crust
  • FILLING:
  • - 5 anjou pears (or tart apples or other pears)
  • - 2 t. unbleached, white flour
  • - 1/8 tsp, salt
  • - 1 cup nonfat yogurt or sour cream
  • - 1 egg
  • - 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • TOPPING:
  • - 3 t. sugar
  • - 3 t. flour
  • - 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • - 1 tsp. margarine

How To Make peggi's deep dish pear pie

  • Step 1
    PREHEAT OVEN TO 400 °.
  • Step 2
    PEEL PEARS & CUT INTO BITE SIZE PIECES. SET AIDE. IN LARGE BOWL, COMBINE REMAINING FILLING INGREDIENTS & FOLD INTO PEARS.
  • Step 3
    POUR PEAR MIXTURE INTO PIE CRUST & BAKE AT 400° FOR 15 MINUTES.
  • Step 4
    LOWER HEAT TO 350 DEGREES & CONTINUE BAKING FOR 25 MINUTES MORE.
  • Step 5
    MIX TOGETHER TOPPING INGREDIENTS.
  • Step 6
    REMOVE PIE FROM OVEN & SPRINKLE TOPPING OVER FILLING. RAISE HEAT TO 375° & BAKE UNTIL TOPPING IS BROWN.
