This is a family recipe that has been handed down 3 generations now. It's "secret ingredient" keeps everyone guessing. I won a Red Ribbon (second place premium) at the Manatee County Fair a few years back with this recipe. Bound to be a winner with your family too!

How to Make Pecan Pie

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the hot water, butter and grape nuts. Set aside 5 minutes to soak.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, karo syrup, sugar, vanilla and salt until well blended.
  4. Add the grape nuts mixture to the second mix and stir well.
  5. Add the chopped pecans and stir well.
  6. Pour into the pie shell and bake on the center rack for approximately 1 hour or until the center of your pie is firm.
  7. NOTE: To make a fancier looking pie, you can add whole pecans to the top in a pattern before you bake.
