This is a family recipe that has been handed down 3 generations now. It's "secret ingredient" keeps everyone guessing. I won a Red Ribbon (second place premium) at the Manatee County Fair a few years back with this recipe. Bound to be a winner with your family too!

1/2 c
hot water
3 Tbsp
1/2 c
grape nuts cereal (the original, not the flakes)
eggs, beaten
1 c
dark karo syrup
3/4 c
granulated sugar
1 tsp
vanilla extract
1 pinch
1/2 c
pecans, chopped
pie crust shell

How to Make Pecan Pie


  • 1Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2In a small bowl, mix together the hot water, butter and grape nuts. Set aside 5 minutes to soak.
  • 3In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, karo syrup, sugar, vanilla and salt until well blended.
  • 4Add the grape nuts mixture to the second mix and stir well.
  • 5Add the chopped pecans and stir well.
  • 6Pour into the pie shell and bake on the center rack for approximately 1 hour or until the center of your pie is firm.
  • 7NOTE: To make a fancier looking pie, you can add whole pecans to the top in a pattern before you bake.
