Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 large golden delicious apples, peeled, sliced 1/2"-thick
- 4 large granny smith apples, peeled, sliced 1/2"-thick
- 3/4 cup plus 1 tbsp packed dark brown sugar.
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 cup pecans, broken into lg pieces.
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 - ready-made pie crusts
- 1 - egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon raw sugar
How To Make pecan-apple pie w/ brown sugar

Step 1Melt butter in lg skillet over med-high heat. Add apples and 3/4 cup brown sugar. Cook, mixing occasionally, until just tender, about 10 min. In bowl, combine cornstarch and remaining brown sugar. Sprinkle over the apples and cook until thickened. remove from heat, add pecans and vanilla and toss to coat. Let cool. Heat oven to 375. Spray a 9" pie plate w/ cooking spray, set on a baking sheet. On floured surface, roll 1 pie crust out to a 12" circle, fit into pie plate. Refrigerate until ready to use. Roll out other pie crust to a 12" circle. Spoon the apple mix into crust in pie pan. Top w/ 2nd pie crust. Trim the crust, then crimp. Make several slits in top of crust, brush w/ egg and sprinkle w/ raw sugar. Bake for 50-55 min. You may have to foil the edges of crust to prevent burning, take foil off the last 15 min of cook time.
