ole country sour cream raisin pie

My mom has made this pie since I was very little...I have never been big on raisins but I love this pie...Just something about it that makes it special....I love the way the top cooks on this and the custard it makes...The flavor is fantastic with the sour cream and raisins together, it has it's own flavor...It is hard to describe...Try it for your self...

Ingredients

  • 1 - BAKED 9 1/2-INCH DEEP DISH PIE SHELL
  • PIE FILLING
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups sour cream
  • 3 cups raisins
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 6 large egg yolks, slightly beaten

How To Make ole country sour cream raisin pie

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 400* Deep Dish Pie Plate
  • Step 2
    1. In a 4-qt saucepan, mix cornstarch, sugar, nutmeg & salt, then stir in sour cream.
  • Step 3
    2. Stir in raisins, lemon juice & egg yolks & cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens & boils.
  • Step 4
    3. Boil & stir for 1 minute, then pour into baked pie shell. Bake @ 400* for 30 to 40 minutes, till golden brown or stick knife in and comes out clean
  • Step 5
    4. Put plastic wrap over top of filling & cool.
