old fashioned apple cream pie, mom's
This is a very old recipe. Mom made this pie when I was very young. Later she made the streussel topped apple pie for her pie fans. This pie was less expensive to make, especially when apples and cream were readily available on the farm. Mom also used honey in place of sugar sometimes. Its not as sweet as many apple pies but the cream makes it rich. I think fat free half and half might work in this recipe but have not tried it.
