This southern recipe has been in my family for generations. The holidays would not be complete without it. This recipe is easy to make, and delicious everytime

Ingredients

  • 1 large cold unbaked pie crust, store bought or homemade
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup karo dark syrup
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 cups crushed pecans
  • 3 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 stick butter (not margarine)

How To Make old fashion pecan pie

  • Step 1
    in a medium saucepan, boil sugar, Karo syrup, and salt until it is rumbling softly and clear. Remove from heat
  • Step 2
    Add butter and stir. Mix in crushed pecans. Beat in 3 beaten eggs and vanilla.
  • Step 3
    Pour into pie shell and bake at 350 degrees approximately 1 hour, until the top puffs up and cracks. Cool to room temperature
