Ingredients

- 2 tablespoons cocoa, unsweetened
- 2 cups milk
- 3 - eggs, separated, save whites for meringue
- 1 tablespoon butter
- dash - salt
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- - the following is for the meringue
- 1/8 teaspoon salt for meringue
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 6 tablespoons sugar
- 2 1/2 tablespoons water
- 1 - pie shell, baked
How To Make old fashion chocolate pie

Step 1Mix first 5 ingredients, cook, stirring constantly until thick. Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

Step 2Add butter, salt and vanilla. Mix well.

Step 3Pour into baked pie shell, top with meringue and bake until golden brown, don't leave unattended, this step only takes a couple of minutes.

Step 5Add cold water to egg whites, beat until frothy.

Step 6Add salt, cream of tartar and vanilla. Beat until stiff.

Step 7Beat 6 tablespoons sugar, one at a time , continue beating until peaks form. Spread over pie, making sure to touch edges of crust with meringue. Bake until brown at 300 degree oven.
