Pecan pie is fabulous just plain and simple. But this version, with a cream cheese layer on the bottom, is just over the top! From chefmeow in Garland, Texas. A fine use of Texas pecans!

Ingredients
- TOPPING LAYER:
- 3 - eggs
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- CREAM CHEESE LAYER:
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 - egg
- 1 - unbaked deep dish pie shell
- 1 1/4 cups pecans
How To Make new and improved pecan pie

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 F

Step 2Combine eggs, sugar, corn syrup and vanilla in a medium bowl then set this topping aside. This will be the top layer.

Step 3In a separate medium bowl, combine cream cheese, sugar, salt, vanilla and egg until smooth. Pour the cream cheese mixture into the pie shell and smooth the top.

Step 4Sprinkle the pecans evenly over the cream cheese mixture.

Step 5Pour topping from Step 2 over the pecans and bake for 45 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature
