- Cook sugar, salt, milk, flour, and egg yolks in a double boiler until thick.
- Add vanilla, butter, and pineapple. Pour into a baked pie crust.
- Sometimes Mother made a meringue from the egg whites and browned the pie in the oven. In her later years, she used Cool Whip. Much easier and just as good!
