this is a photo of one of my sweet potato pies that i make around Thanksgiving and Christmas. this actual crust is store bought i dont have any pictures of the homeade. soon as i make one ill post it. before you fill this crust with pie filling, fork it and bake for 5 minutes. dont let it brown just so it wont be doughy and undone under all that good pie filling

  • 1 1/4 c
    flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    regular table salt
  • 4 Tbsp
    unsalted butter
  • 3 Tbsp
    shortening
  • 5 Tbsp
    ice cold water

How to Make my Basic pie crust 9-inch

Step-by-Step

  1. in abowl, mix 1 1/4c. flour and 1/2 tsp salt. with a fork cut in 4 tbls. butter and 3 tblsp. shortening until mixture looks like crumbles.sprinkle in 3 to 5 tblsp. ice water, one at a time. mix with fork gently with fork after u add each tblsp. of water until dough is just moist enough to hold its shape. shape it into a ball. wrap and refrigerate at least 30 to 40 minutes.
  2. on floured surface roll doll flat with rolling pin that is floured of course.wide enough to fit in your pie plate.u can trim the edge and tuck the rest. crinkle the dough around the edges if u like.
