Ingredients

  • 1 pound sweet potatoes, peeled, diced & cooked
  • 3 - eggs
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 dash allspice, ground
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 1 - pie crust shell
  • TOPPING:
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon molasses

How To Make *** mom's sweet potato pie ***

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
  • Step 2
    Pare sweet potatoes & dice. Cook, covered, boiling salt water, 15 minutes or until tender. Drain. Mash until smooth.
  • Step 3
    Beat eggs, stir in brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, pepper, allspice, sweet potatoes, milk; mix well. Pour into shell. Bake 5 minutes, reduce heat to 325 degrees F. & bake 40 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Mix whipping cream & molasses; beat until stiff. Spoon on cooled pie.
