This was my mom's recipe for a single crust. Use for any pies requiring a crust. Double if needed.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons heaping tablespoons confectioners sugar

How To Make mom's pie crust (single crust)

  • Step 1
    Mix all ingredients until crumbly - add water until able to roll out. Do not make too sticky or it will not roll out easily.
  • Step 2
    Mom used bacon grease for a very flaky crust that tasted like heaven, instead of shortening.
  • Step 3
    This is a single crust. Double recipe to make the top and bottom of a apple pie crust. This crust is the best. Follow pie recipe for the length of time in oven and temperature.
