My Mom asked a co-worker for a chocolate pie recipe & this was what the lady told her right off the top of her head. We made the pie that evening & it was wonderful! Mom taught me to mix eggs with dry ingredients to prevent lumps. God bless my Mom in Heaven!

Ingredients For mom's chocolate pie

  • 1/2 c
    ap flour
  • 3 Tbsp
    cocoa powder (heaping makes richer pie)
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 3
    eggs
  • 1 can
    evaporated milk
  • 1 can
    water (fill milk can with water)
  • 1 c
    whole milk
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1
    baked pie crust in 9

How To Make mom's chocolate pie

    Combine flour, cocoa powder & sugar in a medium saucepan. Add eggs & mix well. Mixture will be very thick. Gradually add can of milk, then add can of water. Add cup of milk & mix thoroughly.

    Cook stirring constantly over medium heat until mixture gets thick. Remove from heat & stir in vanilla extract.

    You can now beat or whisk out any lumps that may have formed. I use a stick type blender.

    Pour into baked pie shell & allow to cool, then refrigerate until set.
