Ingredients

  • 1 stick
    melted butter
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp
    cornmeal (scant)
  • 5
    eggs
  • 1
    unbaked pie shell

How to Make Mom's Chess Pie

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 325.
  2. Mix melted butter with sugar.
  3. Add lemon juice and cornmeal to the butter/sugar mixture.
  4. Beat eggs separately.
  5. Combine butter/sugar mixture and beaten eggs. Mix thoroughly, but with a very light hand.
  6. Pour into unbaked pie shell.
  7. Bake 45-50 minutes at 325. The pie is done when it is puffed up and firm in the center.
