Ingredients

1 stick
melted butter
2 c
sugar
1 Tbsp
lemon juice
1 Tbsp
cornmeal (scant)

eggs

unbaked pie shell

How to Make Mom's Chess Pie

Step-by-Step

  • 1Preheat oven to 325.
  • 2Mix melted butter with sugar.
  • 3Add lemon juice and cornmeal to the butter/sugar mixture.
  • 4Beat eggs separately.
  • 5Combine butter/sugar mixture and beaten eggs. Mix thoroughly, but with a very light hand.
  • 6Pour into unbaked pie shell.
  • 7Bake 45-50 minutes at 325. The pie is done when it is puffed up and firm in the center.
