Many years ago when my father was in service, we had to go to Ft. Benning in Columbus Ga. to buy groceries. Every weekend we would go to a Restaurant called the S&S cafeteria, my Mom begged the owner for years to give her this reciepe. 1 day we went in and the owner told Mom they were going out of business, and he wanted her to have that reciepe. Everyone in the family loves it, and it is so easy to make.

Ingredients

How to Make Mom's Apple Pie

Step-by-Step

  1. Cut up 4 sour apples (Granny Smith Apples are good} into pie crust. Pour 1/2c white sugar & 1/2c brown sugar over apples, chip up i stick of butter evenly over sugar. Put 1 teap. of apple pie spice over it. Add not quite 1/4 cup of flour over the spice.Drizzle about a tbl. Karo syrup on top of other ingredients I use the 2nd pie shell for the top. Bake at 350 for 30 to 35 min. Let cool. You can make your own shell for the top, but i find it easy and just as good to use the 2nd shell that comes in the package.
