This is my mother-in-law's apple pie recipe and it is soooo good! Thanks Mom for sharing with me.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 Tbsp
    flour
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 2 - 3 Tbsp
    butter
  • 3 lb
    apples

How to Make Mom's Apple Pie

Step-by-Step

  1. Prepare pastry dough for double crust pie. Use your favorite recipe.
  2. Peel, core and slice apples and place in a large bowl. Use a mixture of different apples for added flavor (granny smith, golden delicious, macintosh, etc,)
  3. In a separate bowl, mix sugars, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg & salt.
  4. Toss apple pieces and dry ingredients until well coated.
  5. Pour apples mixture into bottom pie crust. Top with 2 - 3 T cut up butter. Place top crust on and seal edges. Make a couple small slits in the top crust to let out steam. I made it look like an "A" in the middle.
  6. Cover pie with aluminum foil and bake for 25 mins at 375 degrees.
  7. Remove foil and continue baking 25 - 35 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
