Grandma Jennie - this was always a favorite pie for our family

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds cooked beef (ground)
  • ADD
  • 4 1/2 pounds peeled and chopped apples
  • 1/2 pound suet
  • 1 1/2 pounds raisins
  • 1 1/2 pounds currants
  • 2 tablespoons nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon scant, cloves
  • 3 1/2 pounds sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice, ground

How To Make mincemeat

  • Step 1
    Put together and add 1 cup meat broth and 1 1/2 cup vinegar. Cook until done.
  • Step 2
    Can and seal or freeze.
  • Step 3
    After thawing; for a pie add 1-2 cups applesauce depending on its size.
