maple butter tarts
Butter tarts are about as Canadian as can be and are fantastically good. This tarts remind me of summer vacations in Canada and my sweet cousin Jenny who married a Canadian 30+ years ago.

Ingredients
- 1 - pie crust recipe, chilled
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup butter, unsalted, melted
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped
- 1/2 cup golden raisins
How To Make maple butter tarts

Step 1Roll the pastry out to 1/8 inch thick and cut out 12 4-5 inch circles. Press the circles of dough into a muffin baking pan. Chill the muffin pan in the fridge for 45-60 minutes.

Step 2Mix the brown sugar, maple syrup, butter,vanilla extract, salt, walnuts and raisins in a bowl. Pour the mixture into the tarts.

Step 3Bake in a preheated 350-degree oven and bake until set, about 15-25 minutes.
