This is the best crust for just about whatever. makes 2, 2 crust pies. Thanks mama

yield 2 , 2 crust pies or 4 shells

Ingredients

  • 5 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 1/2 cups shortening
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 cup water when added to egg and vinegar to measure 1 cup total

How To Make mama's pie crust

  • Step 1
    Cut shortening into flour, salt and baking powder. Mix until crumbly and about the size of a pea. Pour water, vinegar and egg into mixture. Mix. chill and let rest before rolling out for pie crusts.
  • Step 2
    Brush top of crust with 1 egg and 2 T of water whipped with fork.
  • Step 3
    Bake at 420* for 30 minutes. or time for pie to cook. shells bake about 10 minutes, watch. xoxo
